Extract's 2022 in Review

Just like that, another year has gone by! We’re proud of the work accomplished by our team here at Extract, and it was great to be able to see and work with each other in person more as we’ve been able to spend time back in the office. Before starting on those New Year’s resolutions, however, this is a good time to look back at what the development team at Extract has been able to accomplish.

We’ve always been proud of how adaptable our software solutions can be for a range of different workflows. This year we’ve been focusing on adding support for a couple additional workflows:

  • Accounts Payable invoice processing with a solution we’ve coined “Hawkeye.”

  • Document redaction processing for legal purposes such as the ability to address discriminatory restrictive covenants.

These workflows required several new capabilities to be added to our already powerful and flexible solutions. This includes:

  • The ability to use Office365 mailboxes as input for our workflow to process the emails themselves, the attachments, or both.

  • Expansion of an already wide range of document types we can process to include additional Office and OpenOffice document types.

  • Expansion of the database types we can leverage to support identification and validation of data to include Oracle and SQLite.

  • New abilities to route documents to specific users for review.

  • Expanded capabilities to find and redact documents being reviewed in web-based ID Shield verification of redactions.

  • Improved accuracy in reading MICR characters from checks.

In addition to these outward-facing capabilities added to our software, we have been working hard to make improvements to the performance and security of our software on the backend. This work has included:

  • Security improvements including enhanced protection of database access, added ability to require multi-factor authentication, and deploying updates to supporting software libraries.

  • Performance improvements that allow our solutions to support even greater document volumes and numbers of concurrent users, including tools to help limit database growth over time.

  • Improved reliability via added ability overcome unexpected conditions processing documents.

  • Added tools to give our professional services team greater abilities when configuring workflows for our customers.

We also have been focused on getting new and improved features into the hands of our customers as fast as possible via a heightened release cadence. Whereas historically we have deployed two, maybe three releases in a typical year, this year we have increased that frequency significantly with five releases thus far and a sixth imminent. We will continue to do so going forward allowing our customers access to the features they need when they need them.

If you are a current customer of ours, it has been a pleasure to serve you – thanks for helping to make 2022 a year to remember! Please feel free to drop us a line to let us know how we can do more to improve our solutions. In the meantime, we look forward to serving you as well as many new customers as we head into the new year!
