Smart Cities

April 11, 2018

“Smart” devices have become commonplace in most households, whether you’re telling Alexa, Siri, or any other personal assistant that you’d like to turn off your lights or put on your favorite song.  These smart devices are becoming increasingly powerful due to the use of AI and machine learning.  In Atlanta, the government is looking to connect a variety of public devices including traffic lights and more.

Atlanta has put together an RFP to gather proposals that will help to make this happen, and they’ve uncharacteristically made the request very open-ended so as to allow for a wide variety of ideas.  This doesn’t mean they’re just getting started though, as Atlanta has 90 smart city projects in development, which have received funding from a $250 million bond.

Other cities, like Ann Arbor, have already implemented projects that include tracking traffic by monitoring a set of cars throughout the city.  Forward thinking cities across the country are executing projects like this to be able to use data that would otherwise be lost or not easily applicable to solve everyday problems that citizens run into.

At Extract, we’ve realized that smart technologies such as machine learning and AI are the wave of the future, which is why we’ve incorporated them into our software.  While we’re not going to find the best way to change a traffic light to green while you’re waiting, we will have software that can intelligently analyze your documents and learn how to gather important information while redacting sensitive information.

While sample documents and the like can often help with training, what we’ve developed at Extract is a way to have our software learn your documents as they’re submitted.  Rather than needing development time or manual inputs, we’ve made an application that can learn not only new documents and fields, but also improve accuracy rates on existing documents.

If you’d like to find out more about how we do this, reach out today and we’d be happy to schedule a call or demo with you.
