Canton Municipal Court

Protecting Citizens From Identity Theft

In July of 2009, the state of Ohio issued new rules regarding giving increased public access to court records. These court records contained sensitive information that needed to be redacted before being made available to the public.

Canton Court officials quickly realized that an automated redaction solution would be necessary to process 250,000 documents annually.

To minimize the cost of manual verification, Canton officials searched for a redaction software that would automatically detect a very high percentage of sensitive data types, such as Social Security Numbers, Tax Identification Numbers, Employee Identification Numbers, Bank Account Numbers, and Credit Card numbers.  Extract was able to automate this PII redaction, creating efficiencies for staff and allowing them to keep up with their large annual document volume.
