Virtual Conferences Are Here to Stay

July 14, 2021

To say that COVID-19 has permanently transformed the world of business would be a gross understatement. Over the last year and a half, we have seen our workplaces shift from in person meetings and conferences to a completely virtual format. This has been for good reason; during the height of the pandemic, it kept everyone safe and healthy, going forward keeping things virtual or hybrid can bring significant cost savings.

Healthcare specifically is an industry that has been greatly impacted by the shift. It’s estimated that the pandemic accelerated the ‘virtual space’ by more than five years and with healthcare organizations spending approximately three percent of their revenues for meetings alone, continuing down the virtual path will give those organizations the opportunity to be more efficient with their budgets.

At the same time, the healthcare professionals at those organizations found themselves being more effective in front of their computer screens vs attending the traditional in-person conference. Professionals are frequently attending conferences to obtain their continuing education units or CEUs, but with no tradeshows due to COVID there were few options to earn them. That is why at Extract we founded The HealthyData Virtual Academy. The academy is a completely virtual event where attendees earn AHIMA CEU credits at no cost.
