Granicus: Building Trust Around Vaccine Communications

January 26, 2021

The Good News: the COVID-19 vaccines are being administered.

The Bad News: the roll out has been extremely slow.

The Solution: Granicus?

Over the last several months we have seen in the news that mass vaccination is the most plausible tool we have to gain control over the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Hundreds of thousands of Americans are being vaccinated daily, but truthfully with most of the population wanting the vaccine the rollout has been a much slower process than the United States government had anticipated. To add more fuel to that fire, a new strain of the virus has made its way to the US, pushing scientists to (very quickly) study how viable the current vaccine is to protect against it.

Granicus, a communication software company that provides solutions for state and local governments, is working on rolling out a set of free tools to help guide these government agencies to talk to their communities about the vaccines.

Communication is always a place that needs improvements, but it became even more of a concern at the onset of the pandemic as more people turned to their local and state governments as their sources of information.

Granicus is placing a large emphasis on that by helping them share effective strategies amongst each other with their Vaccine Communications Toolkit. The Toolkit aims to help agencies achieve several goals; 1.) educate and Build trust around the vaccine, 2.) engage hard to reach communities, 3.) provide current information, efficiently, and 4.) support an effective distribution of the vaccines.

With the help of Granicus Toolkit, governments will be able to generate a cost-effective plan that allows for swift action. In a recent press release Mathieu Cavell, Assistant to the County Administrator for Community Relations and Resilience in Leon County, FL explained, “Ensuring the health and safety of our constituents is our top priority. In 2020, this objective was put to the test. Looking ahead, we see a light at the end of the tunnel, and we need to do everything in our power to get there as effectively as possible. This will start and end with clear, transparent and consistent communication about the vaccines with our community. We are in a fundamental battle with social media-driven misinformation, with dire consequences. Granicus has been a long-time partner in helping us communicate and engage directly with citizens in the modern, digital channels in which they live. Access to the Vaccine Communications Toolkit will allow us to broadly reach residents in our community with proven communications and messaging, responsive to a dynamic environment, that we are confident will help us get to the other side of this virus with widescale immunity.”
