ID Shield Redaction Software is a highly accurate, easy-to-use redaction tool that permanently removes private information within records and documents. ID Shield protects the sensitive data in electronic records for public record access or any document sharing process that involves non-disclosure of confidential information.
How does it work?
ID Shield uses the industry’s most sophisticated OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology to convert scanned images to a digital format. Once the image is converted, rules based logic is applied to the data to locate patterns of numbers, key words and phrases which identify varying levels of confidence for potentially sensitive information.
Once identified by ID Shield, an image found to contain sensitive data may be automatically redacted or sent to the ID Shield verification module for acceptance / rejection of potential redaction zones. The redaction zone is then “burned-in” to a copy of the image, preventing a would-be identity thief from viewing the sensitive data.

Hybrid Model Processing™
ID Shield can quickly be configured to handle manual redaction, automated redaction or a combination of both to accommodate all workflow requirements. In a completely manual mode, verifiers review every image. In fully automatic mode, no images are manually reviewed. The Hybrid Model brings the real power of ID Shield to the workflow. In this mode, the first pass is handled by ID Shield which assigns one of three customizable confidence levels to the image: High Confidence, Medium Confidence or Low Confidence. At this point, clients customize their workflow. Some customers process high confidence images in a fully automated environment, and pass documents with Low and Medium Confidence levels to a verifier for validation. Clues and redaction zones are highlighted making it quick and easy to accept, modify or remove software-identified redactions.
Legislation Guard™
Because legislative mandates sometimes change, Extract offers customers a cost-effective and highly accurate plan for the redaction of additional fields in the future – Legislative Guard™. If a new mandate is issued that requires the redaction of additional data types, Extract Systems will write new rules for the additional data– at no charge. Documents and data capture tools change over time. Using old rules and technology results in a loss of accuracy which drives up verification costs. Legislation Guard is a guarantee that ID Shield will provide accurate and affordable redaction today and in the future.
Fast
ID Shield has demonstrated the ability to sustain a rate of up to 100,000 images per day (depending upon images characteristics and quality) on a quad processor 3.0 GHz server.
Technical Specifications
ID Shield can process most standard image formats, including TIFF and PDF. An XML output is created as an “Audit Trail” to track processing of each image and operates on industry standard hardware and software platforms.
